I personally feel that evolution and progress often go hand in hand. Society progressed as humans evolved. Technology evolved as the human mind started to think progressively. A science student might equate this as “evolution is directly proportional to progress”. Yes, it is.

People often value products that have higher market value and made huge buzz during their release. Many times we forget that our needs or our requirements are quite lesser than the market price for a product we afford. By the time we realize things slip out of our hands. Now, we needed an optimum solution to save money and to get our needs done.

I guess we already have one, OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE.

What exactly is open-source software?

As the name indicates it is open to everyone and by the source, it means to code. If you are good at coding, you can write code and be a part of the software that is being developed. In simpler words, these can be called the alternatives to a lot of paid software we use in our daily life.

My introduction to open source software is quite different. My laptop got affected by the virus. I realized that the virus entered my laptop through a download from a third-party site. You probably know what might have happened next. I lost all my files. That is the realization that hit me. That is when I decided not to download any cracked version of paid software from a third-party site. That is when I came across a Youtube video about open source software and thanks to that video, I’m writing an article on open source today. At least my laptop is free of viruses, thanks to open-source software.

Hey screenwriters, this is for you…

Being a screenwriter, I always wanted the software to write my scripts because they reduce my work. I tried downloading a cracked version of Final Draft, which is a paid software but it got crashed on installation. I certainly know that I do not need paid software as screenwriting is my hobby, not my profession. I surfed through internet searching for free software that can quench my thirst for needs. And then I found one…

STORY ARCHITECT

Story architect or short for STARC is the software that quenched my thirst for needs. I have been a part of the beta testing program and being honest the approach and the expansion they want to make towards writing is impeccable

The updates are regular and promising. Story Architect is not the replacement for Final Draft. STARC is one of its kind.

This software is not only for freelancers it is for everyone.

You might be wondering why am I hailing this software. There are many people out there who took annual subscriptions for the same requirements I have but I’m getting things for free.

Here is the link to explore the world of writing. Wanna take a wise decision, you are just a click away.

I know, we find thrill in downloading paid version software for free but little did we know that we might download the virus along with the software.

Let us start encouraging Open Source. People are putting a lot of effort to meet our needs and providing their content for free (most of the open-source software is free). All we need to do is download the open-source software instead of cracked versions of the paid software.

I am doing my part. I completely shifted to Open source and the experience is great.

We may not create software but we can encourage people who are doing it.
